Cinnamon Rolls (Gluten Free)
These cinnamon rolls blew me away, not only because the dough was rollable which is tricky with gluten free “breads”, but because they are probably the best cinnamon rolls I’ve ever had. Really. The flavor is fantastic! They’re soft, rich, full of cinnamon flavor, and taste like everything good that could possibly happen to a cinnamon roll. I think pouring cream over them before baking makes a huge difference in the flavor because they just taste so, so wonderful! Although th

Milk & Cream Bread
Soft fluffy delicious and pillowy bread! It is slightly rich and sweet and wonderful to eat on its own! This bread contains both milk and cream, which enhances the flavor and adds to the wonderful softness! It’s not too difficult to make, if you’ve successfully made a sandwich loaf before then you can make this bread! This post was originally published on November 21, 2023. Top the Tator
When you’re feeling the best potato chip dip nostalgia but you ain’t in the USA?!? Well this copycat recipe may not perfectly hit the mark, but it’s satisfying nonetheless. It is wonderfully tangy, creamy, and has great flavor from the chives, onion powder, garlic powder. You are free to tweak this recipe to your tastes, as I will likely do in all future iterations! Roasty Toasty Rice Krispie Treats
If you’ve ever wanted to infuse rice crispy treats with a deeper flavor, with notes of caramel and roasted marshmallows, this is a great recipe to try! The browned butter and toasted marshmallows make a truly delicious rice crispy treat that feels a lot less sweet than a traditional one. If you want to take it the extra mile you can even toast the rice Krispie cereal, which I think I’ll experiment with next time! This post was originally published on November 21, 2023. The re

Roasted Tomato Soup
A roasted tomato soup that is incredibly PACKED with flavor. It has tons of flavor from seasonings and roasting the tomatoes, vegetables, and herbs. It’s 10x better than the surprisingly sweet one-dimensional canned tomato soup from my childhood. This soup does taste a bit like marinara sauce, but if that worries you then adding less fresh basil and dried oregano will likely help. This is the kinda soup that isn’t just a dip for grilled cheese sandwiches, it’s just as good as

Citrus Paska Bread (Easter Bread)
This amazing Easter bread has lemon and orange zest, is not too sweet, and goes perfectly with almost any jam/jelly/honey available! Ukrainian Paska recipes vary, some are heavy with butter and sugar, some have raisins, and some have citrus. I previously tried recipes with lots of butter and sugar and they ended up dense and dry, so for this recipe I went with citrus and less richness, and this Paska is light and fluffy and full of citrusy delight! Salted Sesame Caramel Millionaire Bars
The best and most surprising recipe from my job at a bakery a few years ago were these bars. Seriously, I expected to hate them and put off trying them for months only to discover they were dangerously addictive. That perfect blend of rich, sweet, salty flavor and the sesame in the tahini just makes them inexplicably good! Sure, they’re gluten free, dairy free, vegan and whatnot, but honestly they are not missing a dang thing. If you like trying new things these may be for yo

Poor Man's Pudding (Pouding Chômeur) - Brown Sugar Version
Imagine a soft fluffy pancake-like cake covered in a delicious caramel-like sauce without having to bother with making caramel! The flavor profile changes depending on whether you use dark brown sugar (like me), or light brown sugar. If you love the stronger molasses flavor then dark brown sugar is the way to go! This French-Canadian dessert is not too difficult to make and creates its own delicious sauce you can drizzle all over it before you dive in. Compared to the maple-c

Poor Man’s Pudding (Pouding Chômeur) - Maple Cream Version
Imagine a rich pancake-like cake with soft fluffy cake smothered in rich maple cream. That’s exactly what this French-Canadian dessert is like! It can taste a little eggy and too sweet, but it is delicious warm or cold, with or without ice cream. You can argue that the maple syrup and heavy cream certainly make this “rich man’s pudding” and I won’t deny that! This is a great recipe, but I personally prefer the brown sugar version which is also cheaper to make! I think some co

Orange Carrot Cake (Gluten Free)
An excellent spiced carrot that’s so bright and delicious! The orange flavor and warm cinnamon are so perfectly balance this cake. And the cream cheese frosting adds a silky sweet tangy richness to it all! This cake is on the sweeter side, so if you want to experiment with adding less sugar to the sugar or frosting, or use less frosting feel free! This cake is great and can easily convert someone who is not GF. It gets better as it rests! This post was originally published on

Salted Sesame Brown Butter Blondies
I really can’t ask for more in a blondie, they’re ~fancy~ and incredible. Imagine combining the flavors of brown sugar and salted caramel, and on top of that adding sesame in the form of tahini and halva for even more savory and rich notes. Every mouthful is beautiful, and it’s certainly more satisfying than the standard blondie. You can omit the sesame seeds, tahini, and halva if you don’t like sesame flavor or haven’t tried it before in a dessert, but if you’re ready to tak

Brown Butter Sage Sablés (Cookies)
Don't be turned away by the name, these are INCREDIBLE. They're elevated shortbread-like cookies with buttery aromatic flavor that is perfectly sweet and just the right amount of salty. The sage flavor isn't strong but really compliments the other amazing flavors. They're delicate with an excellent texture, crumbly but not dry! When I first heard about this recipe I thought it sounded crazy, but I just had to try for myself. And I am. Blown. Away. They remind me of Christmas

English Scones
Soft, buttery and slightly sweet. I may prefer buttermilk biscuits over scones, but scones are still a delicious treat! Soft layers within a golden crispy outside. Whether you enjoy them plain, add raisins, and top them with clotted cream and/or jam, I think these would make just about anyone happy! These are like magic. With only three ingredients (flour, butter, sugar), these are more than the sum of their parts. Delicately sweet and simply buttery and delicious! If you like super easy baking recipes, this one is for you. All you need is those three ingredients, your hands, a pan, something to cut and poke the dough with, and a bowl to mix in. Really. I can't recommend these enough. The link to the recipe with tutorial photos: https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX

Clotted Cream (Slow-Cooked Cream)
Okay, "clotted" sounds awkward, but TRUST me, clotted cream is a divine British secret. Whether you slather it in scones, bread, or whatever you would like, it's like an elevated cream. Thick & creamy, slightly buttery, and somehow still light in flavor as well. It's delightful!!! Also, it's super easy to make , as long as you don't mind your oven being on all day/night. But it is kind of like using a slow-cooker, right? The link to the recipe with tutorial photos: https://do

Why is rye flour such an underrated flour for making bread? Is it because it lacks the intense gluten network of wheat? Or because people don't like the flavor? Well, maybe the science behind rye flour and rye bread will convince you to try it out in your bread making, because I really think you should! Here are the link and embedded rye bread science video on YouTube, and below that are my video notes and references I used for the information. Link to the video: https://www.
